I’m not a fan of John F Kennedy. Don’t get me wrong, he did some good things, such as cranking up the space program, but I think he didn’t really accomplish a whole lot as the President. Granted he only had two years in office. One of the things that I find kinda sad is that here it is 41 years after his assassination and that is what he is remembered for, being assassinated.
There are many people who say he was the best president ever. I can’t agree with that. He had potential for being a good president, but he didn’t fulfill that potential in the time he had. But I digress…
I’ve come across something that again makes me wonder about just how strange and fucked up people are. JFK Reloaded. It’s “the world’s first interactive reconstruction of John F. Kennedy’s assassination.” according to the website. So for those of you who can’t get enough of the Zapruder film, or JFK I guess this is the computer “game” for you. You play as Lee Harvey Oswald. As you may know “Oswald got off three rounds with an old Italian bolt action rifle in only six seconds and scored two hits, including a head shot!” Since I’m already down this low I might as well wonder… If you get a head shot will it play a sound like this one, from Unreal Tournament?
I know, I’m a sick monkey. But not so sick as to buy this game! I mean, I’m no fan of John Kennedy, but this is just out of bounds, man. I guess the next game for these people will be the Charles Whitman University of Texas Sniper game? See if you can kill more than Whitman did? The John Hinckley Jr. game? See if you can hit where he missed? I’m getting sick just thinking about this.
I guess I’m probably coming across as a little hypocritical, seeing how I play violent video games. I’m fairly bloodthirsty in a game, but the fact is that I know the difference between fantasy and reality, I know that what I do in a game, is something I’d never do in real life. In my opinion this is not where computer games should go. This is the first step (or probably the fifth or sixth) on to a very bad path for computer games in general.

Side note: While doing a little bit ‘o research (I know shocking, eh? ) trying to remember Hinckley’s name, I ran across an Ebay ad that just goes with the whole people are sick theme.
I’ll try to recreate it here…
