Drama is life with the dull bits cut out. -Alfred HitchcockPosted by Monkeymanx in Movie ReviewA review of The Village My take on the latest Marvel movie Elektra…. A couple of movie reviews for you… I really had to suspend my disbelief at the start of the film, when it was just humans on the screen, I thought it was kinda cheesy. Once the monsters showed up, I was hooked! Cheesy horror! Yes with a capital C! But wait there’s more! I finally got around to watching Solaris. I had wanted to see this movie since just before it came out. I had found the book after a co-worker had mentioned really wanting to read it. (actually I loaned him the book and never saw it again.) It has been a few years since I read the book. So I had a vague idea what to expect from the movie. I must say that I like the movie, its a hauntingly wonderful love story that makes you think. I remember the book being a little more cerebral, but the movie was good, it cut some of that out, and most likely made it more accessible to modern american audiences (aka very short attention span people). I though the movie had some good cinematography and was very well designed. I keep coming back to the phrase hauntingly beautiful when I think of it. I’m not going to say that this movie is the best ever, nor am I going to say that it is for everyone, I think that I happened to be in a very susceptible mood to watch this film, therefore I enjoyed it more. If you want an good “sci-fi-ish” story of love and loss, I recommend it. [Listening to: Insane In The Brain - Richard Cheese - Tuxicity (03:17)]
