It looks like we have a new pet, sort of…
This is a picture taken from the window looking out onto our patio. Sorry it’s a little fuzzy, but there is a screen over the glass. What I’m pretty sure we have hanging out on our patio is a Black and Yellow Argiope, also called a Black and Yellow Garden spider. The few websites I have looked at to look up information on our new little friend have stated that these spiders are harmless to humans. That they may bite if provoked, but the venom is not harmful to humans. My estimate is that Charolette here is about 2 to 2.5 inches long, possibly up to 3 inches. When Candy first said “Look at that big spider!’ I thought it was actually going to be a bit smaller. We have had a few smaller (about 1-1.5 inches across) spiders that are brown and have tan stripes in/around the apartment before. I’m not sure what type those are, but by looking around online, they might be wolf spiders. But I digress…
I went over to look at this spider and was actually a bit shocked by the size and coloration. (Also a small blow to my manliness I was a bit scared, but to my credit there was not a “girly scream” involved). So being the nerd that I am, I got my camera snapped the pic and immediately went to look up what kind of venomous dog and cat eating arachnid we had parked on our patio.
As it turns out it appears we have a bug eater that should not bother us, other than looking vicious.

Wow, there are some strange blogs out there. Not that my blog is not strange.

I have been led down the path of darkness…I have tasted of the forbidden apple

The inter-species relations in my apartment seem to be getting a bit better. Yesterday and this morning, Queue ventured out of the FOZ (Feline Only Zone) and into the GLA (General Living Area).

I’d like to thank the people that wished me a happy birthday. Sorry I was not able to respond to you, but I was still unpacking and getting into my new job and living situation. I had a good birthday, and I’m a year older so, it served its function.
I’m getting used to living with someone again, and her Chihuahua. As she is getting used to me and my Manx. It’s still in the adjustment phase, and I haven’t had a lot of time to sit down and blog. And now that I have sat down to blog, I’m starting to blank out. Bloggers Block? Writers Blog? But I digress.
I did finish reading The Wind Up Bird Chronicle. A very good book, but also strange. Near the end of it, I felt it became a bit disjointed, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. And I recommend to anyone who is looking for something different. Something that is not the literary equivalent of a summer blockbuster. Not that those summer blockbuster books are bad, per se, but this book is not one. I stretched out reading it as long as I could so I could enjoy as much as possible. It might not be easy to find in your local book shop (muchless a used book store) but I think a search (or the internet order) for The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami would be worth it.
As you may have noticed I changed the site about a month ago. I actually changed the engine that I use to blog. I went from Moveable Type to Word Press (sounded like a logical step up
). I’m fairly certain I have all the functionality of the old blog, and then some. If you are not on the mailing list, you can get on that with a link on the sidebar. A little different from the old blog, but it works (or seems to). I have a cool currently reading block. Much easier on me
. Before, I would literally find the link on amazon, copy and shrink the photo of the cover, and put it all on my site. Then near the end of the MT days, I had a plugin that would go through the amazon associates program, which was easier. On this one I put in the title, it gives me an AISD number and I put that in a box and viola. Granted I’m using a plugin to do that, but it’s very easy and nice. Let me know if you like the new look, loathe it, or are indifferent. My email is the same, and the comments section works
.
On the book note, I think I might try to get Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. I know Beav has already ordered it, and I did read If Chins Could Kill and enjoyed it, so I think I’ll like this one.
I figure I’ve rambled enough and need to get to bed.

I’ve had a few “where have you been” calls/emails/IMs/smoke signals.
Well I’ve been changing just about everything in my life, except myself.

I’m a bad person. I felt good when I heard of the misfortune of a co-worker.
